Personal Orion Fest

This past weekend was the Orion Festival, a music festival brought to you by none other than Metallica. Sadly, my obsession interest came too late and I couldn’t convince Ed to throw down the cash to go. I did have the brilliant idea of having our own personal Orion viewing, though.

And we totally had an awesome weekend at Blues Fest in Chicago with Ed’s Mom in town, by the way. But I made sure to torture myself by staying glued to Instagram and Twitter.

Sunday we chowed down on festival food and watched the three bands we felt we were missing out on — Gogol Bordello, The Deftones and, of course, Metallica. It was a good time with good music in the comfort of our own apartment (on our new couch). With luck, Detroit will be the new home of the festival and next year we will partake in the official festivities. I think we did pretty great on our own, though.

Happy Friday // 5.17

We signed our lease, I wrote a bunch of checks, we’re seeing the place one last time this weekend — things are finally getting wrapped up. Well, minus the whole packing thing. That we should probably start. I’m trying to get excited about moving, about decorating a new place where we can hang things on the walls (I’ll miss you anyway, exposed brick), our access to a rooftop deck (4th of July!), the closeness to the lake (running by the beach!) and living in Vietnamese food heaven again. Tank Noodle, here I come. Also, super excited at the prospect of a night market!
