Mr. Jimmy Page ❤
Towards the end of December I had a promising job interview. Then a follow up phone call a week later. Then I headed back to Ohio for the holidays and tried to stay busy with family and finishing gifts while I wondered if everything was about to change.
And, thankfully, it did. I started a new job in mid January at an office in the Willis Tower. I began getting up at 5:30 am, bought a one month CTA pass, and, a week in, replaced my ancient phone.
Remember these? Well, last year at Christmas I bought my Mom some pretty yarn and told her I’d make her a pair. Then I proceeded to slack off for a year.
Don’t worry, the yarn got back at me.
I made her a set for this past Christmas, but not before having to buy two new skeins of yarn. It took more yarn than I had expected and the new ball I purchased didn’t match so I had to buy yet another (this after already making a glove in the original yarn). Needless to say, I’m getting pretty good at this pattern.
This is really my first completed knitting project where I followed a pattern. I also had never knitted on double-pointed needles before, but I’m glad I figured it out. I learned a ton from the pattern itself, teaching myself stitches I’d never tried before. It took some time, and after finishing the first glove I hit the part of crafty projects where I want to start something new instead of completing what I’ve already begun. I pushed through it, though, and maybe that can be my New Years resolution — learn to finish what you start.
