Ed’s Mom and sister came to Chicago to visit for Easter. Friday night, when they arrived, we ended up in Wrigleyville to eat at Goose Island then wandered to see if Ed’s Mom could spot her brother’s old house (and she did). Saturday we did some touristy things around the city. I hadn’t been to Navy Pier or Millennium Park in a while, but when they were still full of energy and ready to shop Ed and I headed home to rest up a bit. Saturday night we feasted on local cheap fare with Ed’s Mom and Sunday we ate brunch at Bull and Bear before they headed back to Ohio. It was a good weekend — more busy than we’re used to, but it was definitely nice to have some folks in town to visit.
I’m beginning to realize this summer is going to be a busy one, partly because of several weddings that will be taking place. Because I’ll be traveling to attend, I’m not sure how much to put into a gift, but a thoughtful and unique card could be nice (at least). Here are some inspiring ones I came across online.

The weekends means that Ed and I can do a little more with our cooking than normal nights. This weekend was definitely no exception.
A couple weeks ago I decided to try making this bread. I was hesitant to try it because it requires 5 eggs, which seemed excessive, but decided to give it a go.
I skipped the flax and added a little more almond flour to make up for it. I also baked it in a little larger of a pan than recommended, but it still turned out pretty good — much better than a similar bread I once tried. It’d be great with some jelly or jam on it and it’s a good snack early in the morning.
Things have been hectic lately as I get used to a new routine, but I’m started to get settled in and learn how to organize my time. I can already see that this summer is going to be busy, but it’s nice to be able to plan that far ahead.
I don’t know why I’ve waited so long to share this project, but somehow time has gotten away from me.
For Christmas, my sister (and brother-in-law) requested some sort of artwork to hang up in their home. I think she mentioned a painting, but I haven’t painted in a long time and this was something I’d been curious to try.

On Friday, Ed and I ate burgers and then made a batch of guacamole later in the evening to eat while we watched Some Like it Hot (the guac was Ed’s idea, the movie choice mine). On Saturday we made a pepperoni and spinach pizza. On my half I added slices of tomato and Ed added jalapenos to his.
